Man, I’ve been lucky. Ok, here's my story quickly. Used to weigh 245 lbs...lost a bunch of weight, met up with Kinetics. Next thing I know I’m not only competing but winning in bodybuilding contest and ending up in national fitness magazines. I must be looking pretty fit…women think I’m hot, kids think I’m cool and men think I’m gay. Did I mention I’m 46 years old? Oh yeah, I do a morning radio show,105.7 the X in Harrisburg, PA and national stand up comedian who has been on the tonight show etc..well enough about me. Anyways, a day doesn’t go by without someone asking a fitness question. Yes even though they know I’m not qualified to answer. There is such a desperation out there that it's always “well what did you do?” sorry to say it doesn't work like that. What works for me doesn't work for everyone. I would suggest that you seek the help of an expert. They may vary but mine is kinetics. No this not a commercial and believe me if they didn’t help me I wouldn’t be there. I’m too old and don’t have time. I’m for mediocracy. So I guess what I’m telling you is that even though I’m not an expert I have a nurturing side that wants to help people. So I, with the help of Stacy, Eric, and Dan, from this point on they will be known as my three headed trainer "STERIDAN"(pronounced "stair-ra-dan"), will try to help answer some questions and perhaps put a smile on your face along the way. With the beginning of the year coming and most of you who have made that resolution to lose that weight (yes, I’m grinning), I will do my best to keep you honest or at least try to send you in the right direction. If you’re reading all this you’re obviously leaning in the right area. Ok. I’m done. You can go back and eat your pork rines...just let me know when you’re serious, I’ll help you turn that clothes rack in your bedroom back into the treadmill.

Hard to believe that twelve months ago I dialed the number to Kinetics for the first time! Stacy Garonzik, the owner, and I spoke and she was determined that if working out was just one more New Year’s resolution, she couldn’t help me. If, however, I wanted to train and get into shape it had to be for better reasons than that. There were lots of other reasons and fortunately, for me, Stacy agreed to take me on as a client.

I’m sure I wasn’t her most challenging client, but I know I pushed a few buttons. I hit the door eager to try and conquer my ever increasing middle aged bulge, but came with a list of things I couldn’t do because of my bad knee, asthma, and lower back pain. I said I wanted to get fit, but I had no idea what kind of work and commitment it would take to get where I wanted to be. I heard Stacy say, “Suck It Up!” on more than one occasion as her team of trainers worked with me knowing my limitations. They helped me get stronger so I could train safely despite my issues. Not surprisingly, I don’t consider them issues or physical limitations any longer.

Fast forward twelve months… I have gone from a tight size 8 in dress slacks (should have been in a size 10) and size 10 in jeans to a size 6, in all pant styles, and am headed to a size 4! I have lost the equivalent of over 70 sticks of butter in body fat and I’m still shrinking!!! I train three days a week and try to do cardio at least four times a week (I hate cardio), but the biggest change has been mental! I now see myself as a strong, athlete-in-training; no longer sitting on the sidelines waiting for that magic pill or diet to come along. I don’t look like I want to yet (size 4), but I’m getting there day by day and training session by training session. With the continued support and encouragement of Stacy, Eric, Danny, Michael, and Anna I’m finding my inner fitness diva and loving every second of it – so is my husband!!

Kinetics has become my fitness safe haven – I can strive for things in the gym that people outside the gym don’t always understand. They question what I’m doing – why such a strict and structured nutritional regiment – why train three times a week – why lift such heavy weights – why drive so far – why pay the money when it can be done cheaper elsewhere? Sometimes it’s difficult to answer these questions so they get it, but what they can see are the results. I have a cuter figure now than I’ve had since I can remember and I’m dressing more stylishly than ever before. The old Cathy made excuses why she couldn’t or didn’t want to workout. The new Cathy plans her life around Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday training sessions – NOTHING COMES BETWEEN ME AND THE GYM!!! Again, a concept some people don’t understand… I don’t care – it works for me!!!!

I wish I was a poet or a gifted writer so I could more eloquently express the feelings I have for Kinetics and what they mean to me. They have unearthed the athlete buried deep down inside me and I treasure the new me every time I look in the mirror. It has taken time for my head to catch up with my physical changes, but it’s happening day by day with the support and encouragement of my husband and team Kinetics!!!

Stacy was instrumental in helping me reach the Ironman finish line. She took the mystery out of daily and sports nutrition - giving me a simple to follow eating plan. She worried about things like body composition, joint health, electrolyte balance and bone density, while I focused on my training. My energy level has never been higher.

Stacy worked with me on some basic strength training routines. When I developed some minor leg injuries, her strength training methods actually cured my symptoms before they developed into more serious problems.

I showed up on race day lean, fit, and very strong. My strength and nutritional discipline paid off during the final phase of the race - the 26.2 mile run. While others were struggling to survive, I was thriving - passing 435 competitors before reaching the finish line. Thanks Stacy!
